Kate Middleton and sister, Pippa, have been given the Queen's blessing to break in Royal tradition and throw a baby shower
Kate Middleton has always been a thoroughly modern Princess, and so it seems that for the first time in Royal history, the Duchess will receive a baby shower.
Although not a Royal tradition, the event has been given the green light by the Queen after weeks of organisation from Pippa Middleton - who will no doubt be drawing on her experience in her parents' celebration goods company, Party Pieces.
It's thought that fellow sibling and bakery company owner James Middleton will also have a hand in the celebrations - rumoured to be baking a dummy shaped cake.
While the date of the event has been kept a tight-lipped secret, it's believed to be taking place in the Middleton family home in Berkshire, with Kate due to give birth in July.
And Kate's not the only one having a star studded celebration for her unborn child - Kim Kardashian's shower to celebrate the Kimye baby - took place over the weekend, with the Kardashian sisters joining forces for an alfresco garden party soiree.
