Kate Middleton and the Queen enjoyed an evening in the company of some of film and TV's finest last night, as they hosted a party in honour of RADA at Buckingham Palace.
The Duchess of Cambridge and HRH were joined by an A-list guest list which numbered Helen Mirren, Uma Thurman, Alan Rickman and 12 Years A Slave director, Steve McQueen.
Wearing a pillar box-red Alexander McQueen dress – the same she wore for the Queen's Jubilee Pageant in 2012 – Kate looked radiant as she chatted and joked with guests.
The royals and actors were treated to several performances by RADA students, with Hugh Laurie acting as compere. Helen Mirren also delivered a speech from The Tempest, while Sir Tom Courtenay performed a scene from The Dresser.
Fresh from receiving her Bafta Fellowship, which was awarded to her by Prince William, Helen Mirren was seen chatting away with Kate Middleton at the party. The actress also famously played Her Maj in the biopic The Queen, making her pretty much one of the family – a joke not lost on the young royals.
'My husband called you granny last night,' Kate was heard saying to Ms Mirren.
We knew they were a couple of jokers...
