Sales of Kate Middleton’s Diamond Jubilee faux earrings skyrocket for Heavenly Necklaces

While the Kiki McDonough earrings Kate Middleton wore to present the Sports Personality of the Year Award cost a tidy £2,900, the Duchess of Cambridge proved she’s no jewellery snob when she styled her Diamond Jubilee service look with a pair of fake pearl and cubic zirconia earrings, priced at £48.

All smiles on the balcony of Buckingham Palace following the service at St Paul’s Cathedral, Kate opted for designers in her dress and hat, choosing Alexander McQueen and Jane Taylor, but went for a thrifty approach in the jewellery department.

Following the event, sales for online business Heavenly Necklaces went through the roof and sold out almost instantly.

Belinda Hadden, owner of Heavenly Necklaces, commented: “Here was the future Queen of England wearing fake diamond jewellery and everybody celebrated it. I think there’s a feeling that anyone can look great on an unlimited budget but the people with real style are those who can look good on a limited budget, particularly if they do that combination, Topshop-Prada thing.”
