The gender of the new Royal baby was as much a surprise to Kate Middleton and Prince William as it was to us, but we know that Kate will be thrilled having delivered the baby boy she was secretly hoping for.
Although the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose not to find out the gender of the Royal baby prior to the birth, Kate let slip that she was hoping for a boy at a St Patrick's Day parade in Hampshire earlier this year.
When asked by a soldier what she hoped the new Royal heir would be, the Duchess of Cambridge said, “'I'd like to have a boy and William would like a girl'. That's always the way."
She later admitted on another Royal engagement that she’d bought a Bugaboo pram in light blue, however betting odds still showed that the new Royal tot would be a girl.
Kate gave birth to Prince Cambridge on 22 July 2013 at 4.24pm with the Royal couple announcing hours later that they “could not be happier” with their new arrival.
