When it comes to baby gifts it doesn't come much more unique than this, as Kate Middleton and Prince William have been gifted a miniature 'Boris bike' for Prince George from Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
The Mayor revealed the surprise present - a tricycle for learning to cycle - on a radio interview with station LCB 97.3. The special toy is said to come in the same blue decor as the traditional Boris bikes, customised to include the new Prince's name and the serial number 220713 to represent his birth date.
Boris also described one of the tricycle's key selling points as being able to attach to another bike - a suitable feature that neatly follows his wedding present to Kate Middleton and Prince William in 2011: a similarly custom-made tandem Boris bike.
Speaking of his present to the new family, Boris said: "My memory is, we are sending a beautiful bouncing blue tricycle to get him on a bike at the earliest opportunity and to acculturate him to the join of cycling."
While the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge asked for no presents in lieu of donations to charity, the bike is one in a long line of special gifts from the UK's politician's for their newborn, including a collection of Roald Dahl novels from the Camerons, a three year old apple tree from Ed Miliband and his wife, and a blanket embroidered by nuns from the Cleggs.
