Kate Middleton may have designers the world over wanting to dress her, and the pick of what high end clothes she wants to wear – from Alexander McQueen to Roksanda Ilincic – but fashion is far from her main priority, despite the media and public's preoccupation with what the she wears, and the effect she has on high street sales.
It's not that the Duchess of Cambridge doesn't like fashion, but that she has 'more important things to think about', according to Sara Parker Bowles, the daughter in law of Camilla Parker Bowles, and close friend of Kate.
'We've talked about designers we admire in the past and she's always very complimentary about what I wear,' Sara said, 'but, clearly, she feels she's got more important things to think about - and that's what makes her so endearing.'
Speaking to the Telegraph about living life amongst the royals – Sara married the Duchess off Cornwall's son Tom in 2004 – the magazine editor said that hanging out with the Cambridges is a very low key affair:
'Recently, Tom's mother took me and my sister-in-law, Laura, and the kids to see The Lion King, and then we just went back to have tea at Clarence House. They're completely relaxed, the whole network of people who work in the household team are very welcoming.'
Can we come next time?
