What does one wear to eat Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace with the Queen? Something tells us that our go-to novelty Christmas jumper with a light up figgy pudding on that we wear at home wouldn't cut it (if we were ever invited that is).
But that's not to say one can't channel one's inner festive magpie just a little bit. Just look at Kate Middleton, who turned up at Her Maj's house wearing a Santa Claus-coloured red dress and a pair of very large sparkly chandelier earrings.
Sure, they're probably a bit pricier than the pair that fell out our cracker at the office Christmas party, but they do the same job.
We spotted the Duchess driving to the palace with Prince William behind the wheel and Prince george's nanny in the back - which means the toddler would have been accompanying his parents to the annual family lunch for the first time.
Other royal guests included Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Anne and Prince Edward.
While we got to see who went into the palace, we obviously don't know what happens once the doors are closed. We wonder if anyone gets to snooze on the sofa after lunch? Or if the Queen does a live speech. Or if someone gets red-nosed drunk on sherry like uncle Barry. So many important questions…
