Kate Middleton And Prince William Touch Down In New York

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were greeted by screaming fans at JFK as they landed in New York on Sunday afternoon

Kate Middleton and Prince William have whipped New York into a state of royal excitement as they touched down in the Big Apple yesterday afternoon.

Wrapped up in a purple maternity wear coat by Seraphine – the British label that Kate wore a lot of last time she was pregnant – the Duchess and Duke were greeted by hordes of screaming fans at JFK, before being whisked off to the $14,000 a night Carlyle hotel where they will be staying for the duration of the three day trip.

Despite the long haul flight, Kate and William were out of their hotel door again within the hour to attend a glamorous fund-raising dinner. Luckily, Kate's hairdresser is among the seven strong entourage that the Cambridge's have travelled with to the Big Apple, so the Duchess's signature waves were firmly in place for the evening's party.

Swapping out of her purple coat, Kate ramped up the glam factor a notch or two in an embroidered black lace dress which she accessorised with a pair of knockout diamond earrings and a simple black clutch.

The couple were seen leaving the dinner at 10.30pm, and we hope they managed to get an early night in, because their NY schedule doesn't look like it's going to accommodate any lie-ins.

Today, Prince William will jet off for Washington, where he is expected to meet Obama, while Kate will remain in New York City carrying out a number of public appearances.

But forget the President: what we really can't wait to see is Kate and Wills hanging out with Beyonce and Jay Z this evening...
