Karl Lagerfeld, the high priest of all things fashion, is about to be immortalised in plastic as it's just been revealed that Chanel's main-man himself is set to be turned into one of the most iconic fashionista's of all time; Barbie.
Toy manufacturing moguls Mattel have announced their plans to include the worlds biggest fashion designer in their Barbie Collector series; an exclusive range that also houses Barb-versions of Gone With The Wind's Scarlett O'Hara and Asian actress and style maven Fan Bingbing.
Releasing this sketch as a teaser, Mattel reveals that Karl hasn't been given the Ken treatment - he's definitely going to be a Barbie, complete with his signature grey ponytail, shiny ankle boots, fingerless gloves - how are they even going to make those? - and silver chains. Throw in a mini-Choupette kitty and you've got the man down to a tee.
As surprising as it sounds, this isn't the first time Karl has teamed up with the bosses at Barbie HQ; in fact, he actually dressed Barbie in Chanel for its Mattel's 50th anniversary back in 2009. Speaking of the collaboration, Global VP of Barbie product design, Kim Culmone, said 'it's not everyday that Barbie dresses like the world's most famous fashion designer'. We should all be so lucky.
While the brand are keeping pretty tight-lipped about the new addition to their family, they have told us that more details about Barbie Lagerfeld will be released later this year.
Could a Fashion Month unveiling be on the cards? We certainly hope so...
