Jennifer Lawrence has become one of the most in-demand leading ladies in Hollywood ever since she scooped her Best Actress Oscar for her leading role in Silver Linings Playbook at the high-profile awards back in 2013. However, the 24-year-old's remarkable career started way before that when she was cast in the X-Men franchise as the shape-shifting mutant Mystique — but now it looks like she's turning her back on the role for good.
Joined by her self-confessed 'work husband' Bradley Cooper to promote their new flick Serena, Jennifer was quizzed by a journalist on getting into her blue guise once again for the forth-coming X-Men: Apocalypse film. When she was asked whether or not she'll continue with the rest of the prequels, she simply replied 'It's my last one, actually'.
That's right mutant/J-Law fans — you've heard it from the lady herself. Her days as the film's principle female are numbered. A revelation that will leave lots of the comic book's fans very disappointed.
For those of you who don't know, Jennifer started playing a younger version of Mystique in X-Men: First Class in 2011 and reprised her role in last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Of course, it was whilst filming her first X-Men flick that she met her long-term ex Nicholas Hoult (is it just us, or do you still hold a candle for these two?!)
What's more, Jen appeared in X-Men: First Class before she starred in the iconic Hunger Games franchise, meaning that they REALLY did get her career off to an amazing start.
It goes without saying that the starlet will find it hard to turn her back on the role that practically launched her career but just think how the girl who'll have to replace her feels. Sure, it's a great op but imagine filling Jennifer Lawrence's, err, blue skin-tight body suit.
Here are the badass ladies we think could be up for the job...
She's already got a huge blockbuster under her belt having starred in the most recent Transformers flick. Oh, and just look at those eyes — ideal for that Mystique stare...
She may be Jen's co-star in The Hunger Games series but we reckon she could totally hold her own as the feisty and battle-ready mutant.
She still may be in the middle of the Cinderella bubble right now but we reckon this is just the sort of career-changing role that could move Lily on from those gorgeous but dangerously typecast glass slippers...
Talk it out amongst yourselves, girls...
