Jennifer Ehle is the latest actress to be linked to the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, as she’s rumoured to have signed up for the role of Anastasia Steele’s mother, Carla.
The Pride and Prejudice star could really be about to prove her acting mettle as she transitions from bonnet-wearing Elizabeth Bennet, where she starred alongside Colin Firth in the BBC's version of the Jane Austen classic, to a role in 2014’s most hotly anticipated bonk-buster.
Carla is the mother of lead female Anastasia, the college student who falls for 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey.
If the reports are true, Jennifer will star alongside Dakota Johnson, who's confirmed to play Anastasia, and Charlie Hunnam as Christian.
Emma Watson, Mila Kunis, Robert Pattinson and Ian Somerhalder were just a few of the Hollywood names linked to the film after author E.L. James sold the screen rights this summer, but it looks like Jennifer’s casting will happen.
Nowhere Boy’s Sam Taylor-Wood is also on board as director, with filming due to begin next month in Vancouver. And there are plenty more roles still to fill, so watch this space.
It's actually happening!
Fifty Shades of Grey is schedules to hit cinemas on 1 August, 2014.
