Jamie Dornan is, and will always be, the Christian Grey that stole our hearts and won over our guilty pleasure, but it looks like we may have to deal with the fact that he won't be in ALL of the Fifty Shades of Grey films after all, if this news comes to be.
Earlier this week, fans of the books and films the world over woke up to the news that they've most likely been waiting for since the trilogy's initial release — the story's author E.L. James had confirmed that she has written another novel in the S&M-themed series that was always going to make a lot of women (and men) very happy...
Revealing the super-exciting news to her Twitter followers, the new novel — which is simply titled Grey, in a nutshell, is basically the re-telling of Fifty Shades but from Christian's perspective instead of Anastasia Steele's. What did we tell you? THE DREAM.
However, now that bosses at the company behind the first and up-coming Fifty Shades Darker films have confirmed that Grey will also be made into a big screen feature, their revelation comes tainted by the news that it may not actually feature Christian and Ana as we know and love them. SOB!
You see, neither the gorgeous Jamie Dornan nor Dakota Johnson are contracted for a spin-off film, but it *has* been reported that the actor's representatives are planning to renegotiate pay due to the first movie's box office win. We can only cross our fingers (and are floggers) that Grey will now be included in this crucial discussion.
We don't know about you but for us, imagining another man in the role doesn't even bare thinking about. Let's just hope the film's top dogs see sense and get these two on board at any cost necessary.
For those of you who missed the news of the new book earlier this week, here's everything you need to know...
If you're already fretting over the huge wait that you'll no doubt have to endure for the book to hit the shelves, we're here to tell you that it's set to be released soon. Like, really soon. In fact, it's being rushed to the printers to coincide with a very special date indeed. James said of the book: 'Hello all. For those of you who have asked, Christian's POV of #FSOG is published on 18th June for his birthday. It's called GREY... I hope you enjoy it. #FiftyShades #Grey'.
No, you read that right — you'll be able to delve into the inner workings of Christian Grey's twisted but seriously sexy mind in just over TWO WEEKS on the date of his 'birth' — a notion that's sure to appease even the most die-hard Fifty Shades of Grey fan. And, if that wasn't enough, she's even given us a sneak peek at the book's cover illustration:
The next instalment in the franchise — Fifty Shades Darker — is set for release in 2016 while the last book in the initial trilogy is scheduled for 2017. So, could Grey be hitting screens as early as 2018? As soon as we know the deets (including the cast choices), you'll be the first to know.
