Rihanna may have been laying low over the past few weeks as rumours have circled that she may [or may not — don't get your hopes up] be dating the one and only Leonardo Di'Caprio but last night RiRi got back to what she does best — leaving us positively dazed at her red carpet ensembles.
Stepping out at The Daily Front Row Fashion Awards in LA last night, the 26-year-old songstress certainly made up for her lost time out of the lime-light in her very statement outfit.
Cuddling up to the creative director of Moschino, Jeremy Scott, Rihanna ensued all eyes were firmly fixed on her with her outfit that was part winter-coat part shiny disco ball.
The coat — which she spun as a dress, because, why wouldn't you? — from Moschino's Pre-Fall 2015 collection featured an array of eye-blinding sequins in luxe metallic hues of gold, silver and copper. Cinched in at the waist with a coordinating wrap-round belt and topped off with a decadent faux fur collar in rich black, this isn't exactly the sort of look you'd expect to see on your average A-lister.
But, then again, we are talking about Ri who has a well documented penchant for coat-dresses.
Why, we only need look back to early December when Rihanna made a head-turning entrance at The British Fashion Awards 2014 in a velvet smoking jacket complete with satin lapels, black sandals, 10-den tights and, well, nothing else. Wait, WAIT — there was a necklace too.
If you've got it, flaunt it we say and that's a mantra Rihanna follows to a tee. Wearing her sequined number off her shoulder, she's got the art of covering up while still managing to flaunt some flesh down. And that's no small feat.
Katy's all-pink get-up was, of course, from Moschino's Barbie-themed SS15 collection and was the stuff our childhood fashion dreams. An embellished dress with pool slides? I-N-SPIRED.
So, if you're stuck on what to wear on Saturday night, just take a moment to yourself to ponder, 'What would Rihanna do?'
You may never look at a coat in the same way...
