Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancée Sophie Hunter are indeed expecting their first child together

If you woke up to what you thought was the sound of hearts breaking the world over, you probably weren't imagining it as the OFFICIAL confirmation came that Brit actor Benedict Cumberbatch and his relatively new fiancée Sophie Hunter are indeed expecting their first child together.

The 38-year-old Imitation Game actor and his 36-year-old wife-to-be cemented the news via a spokesperson last night who said, on behalf of the couple: 'I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon.'

While the pair have kept hush-hush about their impending nuptials, there are now whispers that the couple will tie the knot earlier than expected in the spring. Yep, this story just gets dreamier and dreamier...

According to US site Page Six, who broke the initial news yesterday, 'Sophie is a few months along, and both she and Benedict are very excited about it. They are also quietly planning to marry in early 2015.'

Whispers that Hunter may be expected really kicked off when she accompanied Benedict to the Palm Springs Film Festival over the weekend, where she put on a glorious display of bump-hiding with her metallic silver clutch — how sneaky. Now that we know the truth, it's clear that even her Just Cavalli gown couldn't hide what was going on, with her growing tum actually filling out the blouson bodice.

While we're gutted that our fav TV crush is more off-the-market than ever, at the same time we're ridiculously happy for this cool couple. So. Many. Emotions...

Major congratulations to Sophie, Benedict and the little bump!
