InStyle's day out at the polo

InStyle's day out at the polo

It's always a much-anticipated highlight of both the sporting and social calendars, and this year, the 2009 Cartier International Polo certainly didn't disappoint.

To celebrate 25 years of Cartier's support of polo in the UK, the jewellery house invited 600 guests from the world of stage, screen, sport and society to watch Argentina take on England in the Coronation Cup. And not even the most dismal of British weather could disrupt the fun.

The infamous Cartier marquee was the hub of celeb activity during the day (and was entierly designed in-house by Cartier, naturally.) The inside roof of the vast tent was covered in huge black and white photos depicting iconic images from the past 25 years of polo, and VIPs were invited to a sit-down lunch before the match, and for tea and canapes afterwards. And of course, InStyle were invited to join in the festivities.

Guests including Anna Friel, Neve Campbell and Matthew Williamson mingled in the lavish tent (and sheltered from the rain) whilst enjoying bellini cocktails and Cartier Cuvee champagne - and to protect their Louboutins from the soggy grass, guests were escorted to their seats to watch the game in cute Cartier golf buggies.

Once the match was over, the prize giving had taken place and the supplies of tea and champagne had been sufficiently supped - the most exclusive of guests continued to party the night away in the official afterparty tent, sponsored by Chinawhite.

All in all, a rather fabulous day you might say. Despite that pesky rain of course... But hey, as Neve Campbell told me: "What can you do? This is England! We're having a good time anyway right?". Precisely.
