How To Pack A Suitcase Like Olivia Palermo

The style queen's holiday essentials include a good lychee Martini and a stack of interiors mags

The perfect travel buddy

‘I love going away anywhere with my husband Johannes. He’s adventurous and always encourages me to try new things. My idea of a dream holiday is one where we can switch off our phones and iPads, and just connect to each other without any interruption.’

The perfect suitcase

‘I’m pretty good at packing and rarely go over the limit. It’s all about being methodical. I use loads of ziplock bags to group my clothes and beauty products together and have a good quality Rimowa suitcase.’

Space-saving swimwear

‘I love a reversible strapless bikini – it’s great if you want to pack lightly and I prefer one with no straps to avoid tan lines. I also have a sporty one-piece by Lisa Marie Fernandez, which keeps me warm if it’s not baking hot.’

The pedi shade

‘I definitely get my love of manis and pedis from my mum. On my toes this summer I’m going to wear a red shade from my Ciaté range called Hutch, which was inspired by her.’

The essential reading material

‘Homes magazines. My favourite is Architectural Digest. The real estate sections of newspapers are always fun to flick through too.’

The dream holiday destination

‘For great culture I adore Japan. The food is beyond delicious, the people are so kind and there’s loads of great fashion to discover. They also have the most beautiful cherry blossoms in the world.’

The weekend getaway

‘The Hamptons in New York or Babington House in the English countryside are great places for a quick escape – close enough so I can get back easily if I need to, but still far away enough to make me feel like I’m actually on a break.’

The best holiday food

‘What I eat on holiday totally depends on my mood, but generally I love Asian fusion. I’ve had some amazing dinners on vacation, but I would have to say the Italian food at Valentino’s house is the very best.’

The perfect sundowner

‘A Disaronno on ice – it has just the right level of sweetness – or a lychee martini.’
