Hey, Arnold, is that you?!
Remember Hey Arnold? Yeah, the Nickelodeon cartoon featuring a football headed 10-year old navigating life in New York? Arnold was the cartoon crush for every ‘90s (and throwback ‘00s) kid, with his blonde spiky hair and cool deameanour, but have you seen what he looks like now?! Ladies and gentlemen, meet Lane Toran.
Lane voiced the character of Arnold for 41 episodes, which started airing in 1996. You might not know the name, as the LA based actor and musician has been lying low in recent years, but now Lane is back on our minds – and our Instagram feeds.
After Nickelodeon announced that they are working on bringing Hey Arnold back to the small screen with a feature length film, they invited Lane to speak at Comic Con about the cult classic cartoon. What nobody expected was the total hipster that would turn up in Arnold’s place!
Enter Lane: now 33, with a rugged hipster beard, full tattoo sleeve and impressive hat collection. To be honest, he’s rocking a similar look to Arnold back in the day – oversized checked shirt, skinny jeans and a cap are still on the agenda for Lane, who now has over 137k followers on Instagram. He’s not the only one to become Instafamous lately, either, as this Swedish bartender (who looks like Leonardo Dicaprio) found out.
Wait, you recognise Lane from somewhere else? If 7th Heaven was more your bag, you’ll remember a pre-beard Lane as Lucy’s hippy boyfriend. He recently appeared on Nashville and US drama Satisfaction, and leant his voice to The Rugrats: All Growed Up, Recess and Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius back in the day.
There’s no word yet on whether Lane will be back to voice his breakthrough role in the upcoming Hey Arnold movie, but until then, we're waiting for these other movie sequels due out in 2016.
