Four characters from the smash-hit TV show Mad Men are to be made into Barbie (and Ken) dolls: Sterling Cooper ad man Don Draper (Jon Hamm), his wife Betty (January Jones), colleague John Sterling and sexy secretary Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks).
Barbie was launched in March 1959 – exactly a year before the setting of Mad Men's first season (which continued into 1962 and 1963 with its subsequent seasons). Season 4 of Mad Men is due to begin in the US this summer and will hit our shores soon after… here's hoping we'll see some Swinging 60s fashions!
We can’t wait to see Joan’s doll – her va-va-voom curves are surely just waiting to be immortalised in Barbie form. What's next for the iconic doll? We're dreaming of a SATC Carrie Bradshaw Barbie, a True Blood Sookie Stackhouse Barbie… or best of all, when will we see the cast of Glee in doll form?

Toy company Mattel is making the dolls as part of a “Barbie Fashion Model” collection, to retail at around £50.16. Each will come with period accessories such as hats, jewellery and 50s/60s underwear, but the cigarettes, cocktails and racy behaviour will be left on set.
