Ever since Olivia Palermo announced her engagement to her model boyfriend of six-and-a-half years Johannes Huebl back in January, we've been waiting with baited breath to see which dress the fashion icon would choose to wear on her big day. However, if the latest buzz around the pair having a quickie wedding in New York over the weekend is true, we may never get to see Olivia in all of her bridal glory.
The 28-year-old socialite and style blogger is reported to have married her boyfriend of the same age in a very low-key ceremony at Manhattan's City Hall, with only a close friend and her parents baring witness to the service. So, after rumours began circulating that the pair would tie the knot in St. Barts this autumn, what's the reason behind their shot-gun wedding?
Apparently Johannes, who is no longer signed with model agency Wilhelmina Models, was told he would have to leave the US by September as he no longer qualified to stay in the States on his working visa. So, romantically, the young couple decided to wed as soon as they could to prevent this from happening. How adorable is that?
Sources claim the vows were exchanged on Saturday, which makes sense as the couple were clocked obtaining their marriage licence last week. While the star's rep is yet to confirm the speculation surrounding the wedding, Olivia's spokesperson Barbara Saint-Aime has apparently said the pair are not yet wed but, 'they had always planned to have a small civil wedding in June. They are doing a much smaller civil ceremony in the States this month and they are planning to do something much larger later on.'
With only three more days left in June, we're guessing she's either already tied the knot as the reports suggest. Otherwise, we could have a fashion-wedding on our hands this very weekend. Either way, congratulations guys.
