Ok, it's fair to say that Gwyneth Paltrow gets a lot of stick when it comes to some of her lifestyle choices and advise but really, if she wants people to stop having a go, she really should have avoided admitting to this.
As revealed in the 42-year-old actress's latest blog post on her iconic website Goop, Gwyneth has nothing but amazing things to say about her latest health craze which she thinks every woman should be doing. No, we're not talking about a kooky new massage technique or a weird slimy facial trend; her latest 'spa' obsession is a good old vaginal steam clean.
The treatment, which she receives at her local health retreat in California (where else?) is officially called the Mugworth V-Steam and Gwyn can't get enough of 'em.
For those of you who are lucky enough to be unfamiliar with the concept, Gwyneth very kindly breaks it down: 'You sit on what is essentially a mini-throne, and a combination of infrared and mugwort steam cleanses your uterus, et al.'
What a vision.
Adding fuel to the fire, Gwynnie continues: ''It is an energetic release - not just a steam douche - that balances female hormone levels.' You know, as long as it's not a 'douche'...
We don't know about you but the thought of having hot air scooched 'down there' doesn't exactly fill us with excitement. Well, technically it's 'up there' but you get what we mean.
Funnily enough we're not the only ones who think it's not such a good idea. In fact, many health professionals, gynaecologists and the such like have completely written off the concept claiming 1) the hot air would never reach the uterus in the first place and 2) any herbal extracts in the steam could cause more problems than their worth.
Each to their own, eh Gwyn?
