Go Inside The Celeb-Studded RA Summer Party

Art + Cocktails + Celebrities = One fun-filled party

It was off to the Royal Academy on Wednesday night for a sneak peek of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

We bumped into Henry Holland who was on a mission: 'I really want to buy something tonight so I'm racing around looking at everything,' he laughed as he dashed off.

Alice Temperley was also in the buying mood. 'I have lots of litographs, prints, and dresses over paintings hanging in my home. I've just spotted another print here that I want to add to my collection.'

Other art fans included Liberty Ross, who revealed she had recently bought four Marilyn Monroe prints by Andy Warhol. 'They're hanging in my boyfriend's house in LA,' she told us, whilst Amber le Bon explained it was her ideal kind of party: 'We're surrounded by great art which really sets the atmosphere. On my wall at home I have lots of black and white shots. I just love photography.'

Meanwhile, Bip Ling was eyeing up the artwork too. 'I actually sell art. I'm an art dealer. Not many people know that but I'm working tonight.'

Elsewhere, hanging out by the champagne bar, we spotted Alexa Chung dressed head to toe in Chanel. 'What makes a good party? Plenty of booze,' she chuckled, whilst Laura Bailey (also looking immaculate in Chanel) explained her favourite cocktail had to be a caipirinha, 'And not just because it's the world cup!' she smiled.

But it was the incredible Grayson Perry who was nabbing all the attention, including ours. Dressed in a tangerine striped printed dress and clashing knee-high orange socks, with a shock of vivid pink hair, he explained that for him a good party depends on the dress code. 'I call it the front garden effect. If you have a party and everyone dresses up, everyone feels better. It's like the people in your street who leave mattresses in their front garden, it brings the street down. You decorate your front garden for the street in the same way you dress up not just for yourself, but for the gaiety of the whole thing.'

We couldn't have put it better, Grayson.
