Glam and Glitter

WINNER: Rising Instagram Star

The InStyle Project 13 shoot happens to fall in the middle of fashion month and Tamara Kalinic is in the thick of it. ‘So I did London Fashion Week, then it was Milan,’ she says in Serbian-accented English. ‘I think I’m going to Paris… tomorrow?’ It’s still rare for high-end fashion brands to collaborate with vloggers, but Tamara’s YouTube channel and stylish Instagram account have caught the attention of labels such as Kenzo, who recently invited her to open their Bruton Street store. Tamara has loved fashion since her days as a pharmaceutical student at Brighton University, where she’d moved from her native Serbia. Back then she felt like a lone wolf – ‘No one wanted to talk about the colour of the season with me’ – so she went online. Needless to say, the pharmaceutical career took a back seat.

FASHION OVER PHARMACY: Tamara actually studied for a degree in pharmacy at the University of Brighton. She graduated in 2011 and began her career as a pharmacist almost immediately. Tamara might have started Glam and Glitter as a side project, never thinking she’d be working in the fashion industry full time, but hundreds of thousands of readers meant she could fully focus on blogging and leave those prescriptions behind. She has since worked with the likes of Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and ASOS.
