Gisele Bündchen may only be 34, but she's about to retire – from the catwalk at least.
The Brazilian supermodel's upcoming appearance on home turf at São Paulo fashion week is set to be her last, Brazilian paper Moda Estadão has reported.
Having started her modelling career at the age of 14, Gisele has had over 20 years experience on the runway – most recently we saw the legendary super star in last September's protest-themed Chanel show.
Her plans for retirement won't come wholly as a surprise to anyone who has kept a keen eye on Ms Bundchen's career. Even though she's only 34, and doubtless has many catwalks left in her to walk, in the past few years Gisele has increasingly left the runway behind in order to focus on high profile advertising campaigns, among them Chanel, H&M and Balenciaga, as well as her own lingerie and footwear collections.
But the lack of catwalk appearances certainly hasn't harmed her bank balance – the mother-of-two is still the highest paid supermodel in the world (she reportedly earns a whopping $128,000 a DAY)… which makes retiring before age 35, you know, possible.
However, Gisele won't be giving up the day job completely. The supermodel will continue to do magazine work, and we're sure we'll be seeing her face on many a billboard.
Plus, retiring from the catwalk makes the potential of a comeback all the more exciting…
