George Clooney has officially been loving life since tying the knot with Brit human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin last year, bigging her up at red carpet events, toasting her honour at awards and well, using any excuse to bring her up conversation...
However, the 53-year-old actor's latest remark on his wife has been just as swoon-worthy and consequently stole some thunder from the very worthwhile cause he was championing. Poor George!
Speaking at the SeriousFun Children's Network 2015 — a charity set up by fellow Hollywood star Paul Newman that sets up camps for in-need kids all over the world — George lost his cool when he fluffed up his lines, only to win back the audience with an insight to his relationship with 37-year-old Amal.
The mishap in question went a little like this:
'Since 1988, these camps have helped over a half million sick kids and their families from over five — from over 50 — not 500 countries... That would be too many. There aren't that many... Are there 500 countries? My wife's the smart one.'
In all honesty, we couldn't tell you the EXACT number of countries in the world either but George's admission that Amal is the one with the brains out of the two set the crowd roaring with laughter. Nice recovery, Clooney.
Don't worry George, we think you make a lovely 'trophy' husband all the same...
