There are 172 female billionaires in the world – the highest number ever – according to Forbes's survey of the richest people in the world.
The number of female billionaires has risen from 138 last year, to the record-breaking figure we have now. Of the 268 newcomers to the Forbes' billionaire list, 48 are women. However, of a list that includes 1,645 people, there are still many more male billionaires than there are female.
Topping the list for the ladies is Christy Walton, whose father-in-law and his brother founded Wal-Mart. Ms Walton, who is the ninth-richest billionaire on the list with $36.7 billion , regains the richest woman in the world title from L'Oreal heiress, Liliane Bettencourt.
Elsewhere on the list is Miuccia Prada, Tory Burch and Spanx founder Sara Blakely, who have all built their own fortunes, rather than being the fortunate recipient of inheritance.
Oprah Winfrey and Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg are also among the 172 women on the list.
