The results are in! MTV’s highly anticipated VMA nominees have been announced and all our favourite stars are up for awards.
Reigning supreme over the pop kingdom, it’s no surprise that Lady Gaga received the most nominations – a record breaking 13 in total - two for Video of the Year for Bad Romance and Telephone – her collaboration with Beyonce.
Speaking about her nominations, Lady Gaga said: ‘I'm so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I'm even more proud it's an unlucky number: 13.’
Up next was rap star Eminem who received a hefty eight nominations and will go head to head with Lady Gaga for the coveted Video of the Year Moonman award.
Katy Perry got a nomination for her California Gurls video and reminded fans on Twitter of what she ‘won’ from the past VMAs: ‘Thanks @MTV for the noms, I've barely just started cranking em out! I luv the VMA's, u never know what u'll get from em! I got a hubby. LOL.’
Other nominees include our very own Florence And The Machine for Dog Days Are Over, along with Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Jason Derulo and Jared Leto’s band 30 Seconds To Mars.
And after last year’s Beyonce/Kanye/Taylor-gate, the VMAs promises to be a thrilling night of music, fashion and plenty of fun!
