It’s a Brit hat trick in the best actress – drama category, with Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria), Helen Mirren (The Last Station) and Carey Mulligan (An Education) all nominated, alongside Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side) and Gabourey Sidibe (Precious).
Hotties George Clooney (Up in the Air) and Colin Firth (A Single Man) duke it out for best actor – drama, while Matt Damon (The Informant), Daniel Day-Lewis (Nine), Robert Downey Jr (Sherlock Holmes) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt ((500) Days of Summer) are all nominated for best actor – musical or comedy.
Meryl Streep has a double nomination in the best actress – musical or comedy category, which also sees Sandra Bullock get her second nod, alongside Julia Roberts (Duplicity) and Marion Cotillard (Nine).
Marion’s Nine co-star Penélope Cruz is also up for an award for best supporting actress – musical or comedy and Julianne Moore (A Single Man), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) and Mo’nique (Precious) also score nomations – as does Twilight's Anna Kendrick for Up in the Air.
On the TV front, True Blood’s Anna Paquin and Mad Men’s January Jones are both up for best television actress. In short, it's going to be one of the most wham-bam-glam red carpets ever and we can't wait!
