Festival Style Tips From The Frontwomen

Festival Style Tips From The Frontwomen

Who better to give us festival fashion tips than three of summer's hottest new musicians? Here's how they stay looking cool on tour (whatever the weather)

Ella Eyre

The jumpsuits, the toned abs, the AMAZING hair... pop star Ella Eyre is our new musical girl crush.

"My style is... fun, feminine & constantly evolving.

On stage I like wearing... my large selection of catsuits. I tend to expend a lot of energy and I can't stand still for very long so they're perfect for carefree jumping around while limiting the risks of a nip slip... or any other kind of slip!

After performing I'll change into... a body con dress or some high-waisted pants with some Nike Air Max - anything I can move in!

Backstage I live in...
my personalised onesie from a company called Young Ones. Rather unglamorous I know, but I had some made for the tour crew and I printed with our initials. They're perfect for travelling when you're living on a tour bus for weeks on end.

If you’re going to a festival, pack... a bohemian style dress and some boots that work in both the sunshine and the rain!

My festival style is...
simple but sexy! I've learnt over time that if I'm not comfortable I don't look comfortable, so I don't over complicate things.

This Summer I’ll be... playing at a lot of UK festivals including Parklife, V Fest, Wireless and T in the Park. My first single 'If I Go' is coming in June and my album in October."

Caroline Polachek

The Brooklyn-based Chairlift singer (also known as ‘Ramona Lisa’ when she performs solo) has a wardrobe as cool as her music.

"My style is all about... hair, boots and headphones!

My tour wardrobe essential is... my camo jacket. It goes everywhere with me - every climate, offstage and on, with stilettos or as a pillow to sleep on in-flight!

For the performance after-party I’ll change into.... A square black leather mini dress, which was a gift from Tess Giberson.

I never leave for a festival without... A backpack! And a jacket with big pockets. It's so nice to be hands free at a festival so you can dance.

I like to shop at.... the strange flea markets and vintage shops I find on tour. That or Dover Street Market in NYC. Lately I've been designing most of my own stage wear and having it made by talented friends.

This summer I’ll be... playing a handful of very special Ramona Lisa shows in Europe and Asia, and finishing the new Chairlift album."

Stina Wappling

The NONONO frontwoman has that whole effortless Scandi thing going on.

"I’d describe my style as... messy, retro and changing with my mood.

On stage I’ll be wearing... white Nike sneakers and a short denim dress.

On the road I live in.... short tee-shirt dresses and my denim jacket
I always pack... dry shampoo for extra volume and no greasy hair!

My style mantra is.... be inspired by memories and personal things instead of following fashion rules!"
