Estée Lalonde: Best Beauty Reviewer

Intro Deck:

This girl knows everything about the best beauty products around, including which nail polish you need right now and when you should ditch the dry shampoo. It's no surprise she's our Best Beauty Reviewer

Estée Lalonde

AWARD: Best Beauty Reviewer

Estée’s career as a beauty vlogger might never have happened if she hadn’t fallen in love. ‘I moved to England from Canada to live with my boyfriend. I was new to this country, I was feeling a lot of emotions… then I discovered the world of beauty vlogs.’ As charming and polished in the flesh as she is on camera – and naturally pretty with her wide-set eyes and choppy bob – Estée makes no bones about her knowledge of the beauty world when she started: ‘I wasn’t even into it, then I became obsessed.’ Her cheerful have-a-go approach sees her road-testing gooey facemasks or finding an affordable red lipstick that won’t smudge off. Being part of an online community of UK-based YouTubers has helped her settle into life here. ‘I’ve made so many friends, gained so much confidence, and also found out what TOWIE is!’

ACROSS THE POND: Essie, whose real name is Estée Lalonde, jumped ship from her native Canada to London over five years ago. She now lives in The Big Smoke with her boyfriend, Aslan. In fact, it was Aslan that asked Estée to make the 3,800 mile move after an all-American road trip together.

FROM BLOG TO VLOG: Finding herself a little restless in a brand new country, Estée started reading beauty blogs and decided that she should give the online world a go in 2011. Estée’s first posts are a diary of exploring Camden Market and the Great British High Street – early favourite beauty brands include Barry M, Revlon and Models Own. One tutorial led to another, and the Essie Button blog became Estée Lalonde vlog.

KEEPING IT REAL: Estée isn’t a professionally trained make-up artist like Tanya Burr and Pixiwoo, but that just makes her videos all the better for beauty beginners. Her classic make-up tutorials are easy to do ourselves, and we love discovering new beauty brands alongside her. At Beautycon 2015, Estée revealed that she feels her most beautiful when she’s got no make-up, and when she’s keeping up her fitness regime.
