Emma Watson has confirmed she will star as Belle in Disney's live action remake of Beauty and the Beast

In what seems to be the most perfect casting decision ever made by Hollywood bigwigs, Emma Watson has revealed that she is set to star in her very own Disney film.

That's right folks, she really is about to live out our childhood dreams by slipping into that iconic yellow-gold dress to play none other than the beautiful Belle in the new live-action version of the classic Beauty and the Beast.

It seems so wonderfully obvious now, doesn't it? Emma is practically the living and breathing version of Belle herself! Lets break it down, shall we?

She's got the looks, obviously. She has the perfect colour-match of chestnut brown hair. She, you know, loves books just like Belle. She looks great in yellow and practically owns THAT ballgown already...

And, if that wasn't enough, Belle is actually one of the earliest feminists depicted in a Disney film. We, for one, can't wait to see Em give womaniser Gaston a what for.

Unsurprisingly, Emma is just as excited about her new role as we are. Taking to her Facebook page to make the announcement, the 24-year-old actress couldn't hide her delight.

'I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There'. My six year old self is on the ceiling - heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can't wait for you to see it. Emma xx.'

Sitting in the directors chair will be Bill Condon; the man behind Twilight: Breaking Dawn, while the screenplay is being penned by Emma's The Perks Of Being A Wallflower compatriot, Stephen Chbosky.

The only downer? We'll have to wait a while to see Emma in the film as it hasn't even begun filming. With production set to start later this year, we're talking 2016 territory as the release date.

Now that Emma's confirmed she's on-board, we can't wait to see which other stars will be cast in the cartoon's iconic roles. If it were up to us, our dream ensemble would look a little like this...

Beast: Chris Pratt
Gaston: James Marsden
Lumière: Tom Hiddleston (he already speaks French for crying out loud!)
Cogsworth: Tom Hanks
Mrs. Potts: Angela Lansbury (there was never any contest, was there?)

As soon as we know more details of the cast, we'll be the first to tell you. In the meantime, we'll be listening to Tale As Old As Time on repeat. Casually...
