Ever taken a look at Emily Ratajkowski's Instagram feed? It's insane in its hotness. The American actress and model - who first came to our attention in Robin Thicke's Blurred Line's video and later in Gone Girl - has said of using the site, 'It’s nice to be able to dictate your image directly as opposed to a filtered version by the press'.
But she's waaay more than just her image. She recently partnered with Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organisation providing family planning and sex education to over 180 countries, to big up the positive impact of protective sex. She said, " Talking about birth control, but also the empowerment of women and sexuality, is unfortunately still a taboo issue, which is really a shame. And for me, I could have used more examples growing up, especially coming into my own sexuality, of women who are in the public eye that are comfortable and not afraid of being associated with that issue. I think it’s a really interesting indication, not only that this issue is still taboo and that people are afraid to be political, but that it is something women still feel ashamed of. I think celebrating and finding a joy in my sexuality has empowered me, personally and professionally. I’ve spent my life feeling unashamed of my womanhood and confident in myself, and that has made navigating life less complicated in a misogynistic society, in my industry, and in my relationships with men and my friendships with other women.”
Whilst sex education might be slightly redundant to women of a certain age, there’s no denying that this 24-year-old, who also said “" I’m lucky that I can wear what I want, sleep with who I want, and dance how I want, while still being a feminist” is a great role model for the younger sisters out there. Which is kind of hot in itself. Bravo.
