David Beckham poses with wife Victoria and sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.

David opens up about life at home with the Beckhams

David Beckham has reminded us why he's the possibly the most adorably perfect husband and father of all time in a candid new interview about family life.

The 38-year-old sporting legend, who was taking part in a live Facebook broadcast in aid of his new self-titled book, gushed about his wife Victoria and four children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.

Admitting that he was desperate for kids as soon as he met his Spice Girl wife, Becks said: 'Even at 21 years old I always wanted children at a very young age. When I met Victoria we both knew that we wanted quite a few children and we knew we wanted them pretty fast. I wanted my children to live through my career with me.'

The doting dad-of-four added that despite his legendary football career, his close-knit family brood is what really keeps him smitten. '[Family are] the best', David continued. 'It's what kind of makes everything real for you. I love doing what I do, but there's nothing better than going home and sitting with your little girl and your boys. Those things are so special.'

And as the icing on the cake, Becks rounded off by revealing his and daddy's girl Harper's bedtime routine: 'Harper just love fairies,' he said. 'She's all about fairies and princesses so I'm reading fairy books at the moment.'

Oh David, you really are the dream.
