Cheryl Fernandez Versini isn't a star likely to take criticism lying down, especially when it comes to her fashion choices. And especially when the person levelling that criticism is from the least fashionable man in showbusiness. And so when Simon Cowell made some less than generous remarks about Cheryl's bright green Lanvin dress on the X Factor this weekend, the 31-year-old singer was quick to hit back.
If you missed the sartorial furore on Saturday night, Simon Cowell (yes, he of nipple-hugging, bootcut trouser and cuban heel fame), referred to Cheryl as Kermit The Frog thanks to the vague similarity between the colour of her dress and that of the Muppet character's felt skin. Oh Simon, even we thought you might be able to come up with something more original than that.
However, rather than let Simon get away with his comments, Cheryl took to Instagram to share her thoughts. 'And here I am on the panel last night. This one is especially for those who have no opinion of their own until Simon tells them what they should think #sheep #kermit',Cheryl wrote next to an image of the judges with herself as Kermit, which quickly had fans posting their own versions of the judges as Muppets.
No prizes for guessing who the pink-wearing Mel B was cast as...
