Cheryl Cole and Whitney Houston set the X Factor stage alight with performances of their new singles

It was the X Factor show we've all been waiting for, not only did we get to hear Cheryl Cole sing her new single Fight For This Love but also Whitney Houston's first UK performance in almost 12 years.

The two very glamorous ladies took to the stage in the second of the weekend's shows to perform live before The X Factor results to decide who would be going home.

Cheryl donned the same outfit she wore in the video of her first solo single, complete with a military style-jacket and hat, fingerless gloves and trousers with thigh-high splits.

Cheryl sang and danced in front of her Girls Aloud bandmates and hubby Ashley Cole who were sat in the audience and received rapturous applause from the crowd, with Simon commenting that her performance was incredible.

Whitney Houston was next to perform, singing her new single Million Dollar Bill. The 46-year-old singing sensation looked stunning in a floor-length silver gown that unfortunately broke halfway through the performance.

Despite her wardrobe malfunction, Whitney carried on in true diva style and also received a standing ovation from the judges. If you missed Whitney's performance see it again here

But back to the competition and someone had to go. Rachel ended up in the bottom two, (for the second week in a row) and was up against Cheryl's boy, Rikki Loney.

The two contestants sang their hearts out in the face-off but Simon, who had the deciding vote as Louis was still absent, chose to save Rachel. Cheryl joined Rikki on stage and said she was ‘gutted' he was going.

The show must go on as they say and next week looks set to be another big weekend with the finalists singing with big bands, and performances from Westlife and Michael Bublé.

We can't wait.
