Take one Burberry Regent Street store and fill it with hot young talent and more champagne than you can shake a stick at and what have you got? The BAFTA Breakthrough Brit Awards party, that’s what. From the celebs to the canapés, here’s what went down at the most talented party to hit Mayfair.
Who was there?
TV and film talent were the order of the day. From The Riot Club’s top totty Douglas Booth and Sam Claflin to Jamie Campbell Bower and Clara Paget, this was a hotbed of young (and rather attractive) acting credentials. Radio 1 fav Greg James stopped by to present the awards whilst the ever-lovely Olivia Colman introduced this year’s BAFTA Breakthrough winners.
So, who won?
From writers to producers and everything in between, the BAFTA Breakthrough awards are the place to be for up and coming talent. Director Destiny Ekaragha, Stacy Martin aka mini Charlotte Gainsbourg in the infamous Lars von Trier Nymphomaniac film series and the eccentrically coiffed games designer William Pugh were among the eighteen winners for 2014.
Our top celeb spot?
2014 BAFTA Breakthrough winner and Harry Potter actress Katie Leung taking off her Stuart Weitzman stilettos to do interviews bare foot, Douglas Booth rejecting champagne to sip on a mini sports bottle of water (Tesco’s own, no less) and bumping into Lizo of Newsround fame, of course.
And the soundtrack?
Well, this wouldn’t be a Burberry party without some amazing live music. Cue Burberry Acoustic star Billie Marten. The folk singing, guitar strumming, blonde locked Billie had the whole party entranced, including Jamie Campbell Bower who couldn’t resist a dreamy head bob from the front row.
What were we drinking?
It’s a party dahling so champagne was the order of the day. And for the designated drivers? Elderflower, ginger and mint cocktails.
Anything to eat?
Delicious courgette parcels of goats cheese and sunblushed tomatoes and smoked salmon and fresh herb filo cannelloni.
We’re at Burberry, what was everyone wearing?
Well, Burberry, duh. Clad top-to-toe in a navy check suit Douglas Booth was the sartorial winner of the evening. Runner up goes to Katie Leung in her scarlet lace Reiss dress whilst Olivia Colman takes home the Best Shoes award for rocking sky high cut-out Christian Louboutin black booties.
