Perhaps it’s because she’s making a name for herself by playing women from the past (a teenager coming of age in 1960s England in An Education and Daisy Buchanan in the roaring Twenties in Baz Lhurman’s forthcoming The Great Gatsby), but Carey Mulligan looks stunning in retro clothing.
From the Sixties chic Miu Miu she wore to the Costume Institute Gala in May to last night’s gorgeous floor-length Erdem, this is one starlet who opts to stay demure but is unafraid to make a fashion statement.
Working one of designer Erdem Moralioglu’s signature printed dresses at The King’s Speech gala in Dubai, Mulligan teamed her vintage-shaped gown with a bouffant beehive and statement eyebrows. How very Hitchcock heroine of her!
We can’t wait to see what kind of vintage beauties Carey will be pulling out next year for The Great Gatsby!
Check out Carey star alongside Keira Knightley in Never Let Me Go, out on 11 February.
