The awards season got off to a thrilling start as the Palm Springs International Film Festival enjoyed a thoroughly glamorous night of top talent and fab frocks.
Big winners of the night included Carey Mulligan who was awarded best Breakthrough Performance by Never Let Me Go co-star Andrew Garfield; Natalie Portman, who was presented with the Desert Achievement Actress award by Jake Gyllenhaal and Colin Firth, who received the Desert Palm Achievement Actor award from Helen Mirren.
A rather British affair, director Danny Boyle also won the Sonny Bono Visionary Award for his new movie 127 Hours starring James Franco. And fellow Brit, Never Let Me Go actor Andrew Garfield was also there to present and receive awards.
And there were plenty of hits in the dress department too. Carey Mulligan did her signature ladylike chic to utter perfection in a beautiful purple textured Prada dress, while Natalie Portman looked radiant and demure in a sequinned collar Vionnet gown.
InStyle's February cover star Amy Adams added a hit of delicious turquoise colour to the night in a figure-hugging Narcisco Rodriguez gown, and The Social Network star Rashida Jones went for a floral Stella McCartney Resort 2011 top and black tulip skirt.
One to watch, Jennifer Lawrence picked up the Rising Star Award for her acclaimed role in Winter's Bones in a sizzling Oscar de la Renta blue and black patterned gown.
The super glam night has set the style bar high for more awards ceremonies to come. And with Golden Globes only a week away, we can't wait to see more red carpet gowns and fantastic talent honoured!
