Those of you who swooned over Henry Cavill in the Tudors (and let’s face it, who among us didn’t - even Blake Lively’s character Serena van der Woodsen crushed on him in Gossip Girl) will be delighted to discover that our favourite man in tights has been cast to be the new Superman.
The 27-year-old actor from Jersey, who played Charles Brandon in the Tudors, will take on the role of reporter-cum-superhero Clark Kent in the next instalment of the franchise, due out at the end of 2012. This is the first major cinematic role for Henry, who was shortlisted to play James Bond but lost out to Daniel Craig.
With English actor Andrew Garfield (of The Social Network fame) stepping into Tobey Maguire’s shoes as the new Spider-Man and Welsh-born star Christian Bale continuing as Batman, it seems the Brits are dominating the superhero scene over in Hollywood.
May we suggest Emily Blunt to play Wonder Woman?
