Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy is turning her hand to fashion design and launching her own range of clothes after struggling to find anything on the rails that she liked.
'[I've been] every size on the planet,' Melissa told WWD. 'I have experience dressing me as a 6, a 12 and more. And when you go above a size 12 [a UK size 16], you don't lose your love of fashion.' Hear, hear Melissa!
As such the collection will focus on, but not be limited to, plus size clothing. The line will launch in autumn 2015 with a casual sportswear offering with more formal wear, accessories and beauty products coming for 2016.
Although we know and love Melissa for her hilarious acting roles, the Bridesmaids star revealed that her love of fashion and design is a long held one.
Speaking to WWD, the actress said: 'It's something I've done since grade school. I'd lay on the floor, look through Vogue and cut out patterns. It was everything I ever wanted to do… I'd been looking for two, three, maybe four years for manufacturers to help us do this line, but after we met with Sunrise, we felt they were committed to changing the plus-size game.'
Melissa has signed a deal with Sunrirse Brands, which also operates licenses for labels including Superdry and Seven7, stating that 'Sunrise isn't afraid to shake it up and bring plus-size up to fashion.'
We're guessing Ms McCarthy won't be using her Bridesmaids character as inspiration though. Flat caps and polo shirts aren't the most glamorous of garments, after all. Unless you're playing golf.
