Tense, frantic, chaotic; these are words you might expect to describe being backstage on tour with one of the biggest names in the music industry. But Beyonce proved she’s still smiling when the lights go down, posting pictures of herself behind-the-scenes on the Mrs Carter Show World Tour, on Tumblr.
With a dressing gown covering one of her ten stage ensembles, Beyonce is seen beaming, surrounded by her ever-present team. Snapped just before taking to the stage in Manchester, Beyonce added: “Manchester y’all ready! #mrscarterinmanchester”
And the picture tells no lie. InStyle was lucky enough to go backstage at the O2 with Beyonce’s mum, Tina Knowles, and things couldn’t have been more calm or friendly.
While we were there, Tina revealed there are some more stressful moments backstage, explaining: “Beyonce has nine costume changes, so you’re going to have little things that go wrong. We practice the quick changes as much as possible but often the outfits are not totally settled until the day of the concert, and it’s an ongoing process.”
Before adding: “Beyonce studies her performances on film and makes changes for two or three weeks during the tour so things can change at any time. You just have to think really quickly because she literally has 30 or 40 seconds to change, but she’s become a master at it.”
