Met Gala 2016: Which Lovely Ladies Walked The Red Carpet Solo This Year?

Pfft, who needs a man at the Met Gala?

No doubt about it, the Met Gala red carpet this year was 100% owned by the ladies - and yes, many of them were walking those famous steps solo...

(Who needs a man when you look THIS amazing huh?)

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Amber Heard all walked the 2016 Met Gala red carpet sans other halves, leaving many thinking that sometimes the 'Superbowl Of Fashion' might just be a little too much for the fellas. And why not? If there was ever an opportunity to shine, it's at the Met Ball.

Despite all those upsetting rumours surrounding Lemonade and 'Becky with the good hair', Beyoncé looked happy and fabulous stepping out in a pink latex custom-made Givenchy gown - albeit without hubby Jay-Z. In usual Queen Bey style, the singer (who's Formation tour also started last week) worked that unflappable style and demeanour of hers to quash any negativity surrounding her and Jay, and used the iconic Met steps to prove that she is indeed the queen of the show-stopper. Bravo B.

Amber Heard also walked the carpet without husband Johnny Depp, wearing a satin champagne floor-sweeper that exuded vintage Hollywood glamour. We'd like to think that Johnny is perhaps sat at home with his feet up, leaving his effortlessly glam lady to just own the limelight without him.

The 2016 'Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology' Met Gala theme certainly drew some impressive garment choices, none more so than that worn by Taylor Swift who opted for an edgy silver frock with daring cut-outs, paired with caged knee high sandals and a dramatic lip. Funnily enough though, TayTay also chose to walk the red carpet without bae Calvin Harris - but she did have a date...who? Why, BFF Selena Gomez of course. Cute.

Gorgeous mums-to-be Olivia Wilde, Emily Blunt and Blake Lively also turned out without their men, looking absolutely stunning in various stages of pregnancy.

If this isn't proof that men aren't needed to make a night great, we're not sure what is.

*fist pump* This year's 2016 Met Gala is all about you lurdies...
