It was Simon Cowell's night last night. The X Factor creator received two gongs and a standing ovation as he stepped up to accept the Special Award for his outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry and for his development of new talent.
Saturday night favourites Ant and Dec won their first BAFTA after twenty years in the business stealing Harry Hill's entertainment crown.
The country's current favourite reality entertainment show Britain's Got Talent won its first ever BAFTA while The Inbetweeners was the public's favourite as voted for by Youtube users.
The red carpet gave us plenty to talk about. Amanda Holden wowed in a flowing silver gown with corsage embellishment by Ralph and Russo. Ruth Wilson was picture perfect in Armani, Emilia Fox donned a custom made dress by Kate Halfpenny and the EastEnders cast including Kara Tointon and Lacey Turner were all dolled up to the nines.
The awards also provided the first red carpet outing for newlyweds Jane Lynch aka Sue Sylvester of Glee fame and her new wife, Lara Embry, (pictured below, left) who were married last week in Massachusetts.
