Anne slays a dragon, reads a poem and becomes a Hasty Pudding
(Yeah, we don’t know either…)
Anne Hathaway won Harvard’s “Hasty Pudding” Woman of the Year Award yesterday! Past recipients of the honour include Scarlett Johansson, Sandra Bullock, Sarah Jessica Parker and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Last year's winner was Renée Zellwegger.
The tradition dates back to 1795 and the prize is given out by the Ivy League university’s drama troupe Hasty Pudding Theatricals – with Justin Timberlake due to receive the man of the year award next week (last year won by hottie James Franco).
The Alice in Wonderland star, who is to announce the Oscar nominations next Tuesday, "slayed" a dragon during the celebrations, then gave a poetic acceptance speech:
'Please accept my heartfelt thanks and amazement
That you have chosen my few humble offerings as celebrated entertainment.
I will stand tall as I stand on this list
Of hasty pudding honourees – you get the gist.
Let us proceed with this day full of cheer
Thank you for making me your Hasty Pudding this year.'
