Anna Friel has long been one of our favourite actresses – we can't believe it was over two decades ago that she was playing Beth Jordache on Brookside – and so we're obviously delighted she's InStyle's March cover girl.
In a beautiful shoot, photographed by Rankin, Anna looks incredible in a selection of new season pieces from the likes of Marni, Christopher Kane, Gucci, Dior and Jonathan Saunders. If anything will get you in the mood for spring, these pictures will.
Speaking candidly about the (ridiculous) rumours that she had not eaten a full meal for two months, Anna told us: 'Can you imagine not eating for two months?. Rhys [Friel’s boyfriend, the actor Rhys Ifans] and I went to a spa, we wanted to be healthy and we were given this amazing maple syrup thing with lemon for two days.'
'I even broke that because I was so starving. But according to the press it went from two days to two months. What kind of example does that set for young girls? I was really pissed off about that,' she continued.
Too right, Anna. The 38-year-old actress has been with Rhys Ifans since splitting from David Thewlis with whom she was in a relationship with for ten years. But it sounds like it was all very amicable: 'We’re best friends,' said Anna. 'He lives in Windsor, too. Yep, it’s all very unconventional. He’s happy and settled with a lovely French lady.'
Meanwhile, Anna's just finished filming her next big role – a World War II drama, filmed in not one, not two, but three languages. No biggie, then.
Get the lowdown on Anna's thoughts on cosmetic surgery, growing up in Rochdale, and those 'freezing eggs' rumours in this month's issue of InStyle.
