Amber Heard Takes On The Tricky Slip Dress Like A Pro — And You Can Too

Amber Heard Takes On The Tricky Slip Dress Like A Pro — And You Can Too

Amber Heard looked MEGA in her gorgeous burnt orange slip dress but they can be hard to wear. Here's our guide to getting them right, no matter your shape or style

Amber Heard may not do the red carpet rounds often but when she does, she does it oh so well.

Last night saw the newlywed — who tied the knot with Hollywood royalty Johnny Depp at the beginning of February — make a rare appearance at a glitzy, star-studded dinner hosted by jewellery mogul Tiffany & Co. in honour of its 2015 Blue Book Collection launch in what has to be one of her most gorgeous looks to date.

The 28-year-old The Rum Diaries actress looked beyond incredible in a silky burnt orange slip dress which hung on her slender frame a dream. Accessorising it with a silver quilted Stella McCartney clutch, nude leather strap heels and stunning diamonds from Tiffany (where else?), we reckon we've just found our new glam fashion pin-up.

Now, getting back to THAT dress — not only is the colour a big deal for summer but the slip dress silhouette is a trend that's going nowhere. However, as we probably don't need to tell you, they can be notoriously tricky to wear. You know, if you're not 5' 8" and have the body of a lingerie model...

If you've always dreamt of rocking a sexy slip for yourself but never thought you could, we're here to help. From busty girls to petites, we've found the perfect slip dress styles to suit your shape — and they all come with majorly purse-friendly prices...

Problem: 'I'm Too Busty'
If going braless just isn't an option for you, 1) I feel ya and 2) it needn't be an issue. Look out for slip dress styles that have slightly wider straps that will cover the majority of your bra, with a neckline that isn't too plunging. Topshop have lots of on-point options for you to choose from but this tomato red number has to be our pick. We'll be wearing it with wrap around heels and lashings of gold jewellery for our next night out.

Problem: 'I'm Too Curvy To Carry It Off'
Ok, so slip dresses we're made for the more straight up and down type — we're looking at you Kate Moss — but choose the right print and you can get in on the slip dress action without adding any unwanted bulk. The vertical print on this zesty style will elongate your frame in a flash, which in turn will help balance out your killer curves. We also love the double-layer hem; it will help detract attention from your pins if they're not your strong point...

Problem: 'I'm Too Bottom Heavy To Make It Work'
Nonsense! You just have to look out for key styles that nip in on the waist but still have the silky finish and skinny straps that the slip dress is famed for. This French Connection lovely has a subtle tie to the waist which will help you to define your torso while the more a-line shape will skim over any lumps or bumps. And the clash of prints feels so fresh — what's not to love?
