Alexa Chung poses with her new It novel at New York book launch

Alexa Chung plays the proud author for her New York book launch

Alexa Chung’s book tour hit New York yesterday as the fashion pro-turned-author launched her new book, It, in the Big Apple.

Looking suitably chic for the occasion, Alexa opted for show of vintage-look florals for her exciting bash.

Detailed with an adorable scallop hem and sharp collar, she teamed with bow heels and her signature disheveled updo.

Ahead of her stop at Marc Jacobs’ Bookmarc store today, Alexa was all smiles as she proudly clutched her most-wanted read.

Having finally penned her finest hipster anecdotes, Alexa has since confessed to losing touch with reality somewhat.

Revealing that she wears £130 ballet flats to the GYM, Alexa told Styleite: 'I guess that’s how you can tell when you’ve lost touch.'

The style favourite also took a substantially quirky approach to writing her book, as she submitted sections to her editor via email – which all sounds pretty hipster to us.

Alexa has also recently commented more about her ‘awkward teen’ fashion past, revealing that even she was teased for the clothes she wore.

The Brit model confessed that her head-to-toe colour coordination once earned her the nickname, ‘purple girl’, although, in hindsight, her penchant for all-out hues gave her a head start on the catwalk’s colour-blocking trends. Yay!
