Adele, Cheryl Cole And The Million Pound Job Dispute

British singer Adele has turned down a lucrative deal to replace Cheryl Cole as L’Oréal's new UK ambassador.

Adele has reportedly rejected a £12million offer from L’Oréal, who was lining her up to become Cheryl Cole's replacement as the new face of the brand.

The 25-year-old Skyfall singer was set to become the cosmetic giant’s highest-paid star ever with a four-year advertising contract and a multi-million pound paycheque from the French beauty firm.

But according to People magazine, the mum-of-one has suddenly backed out of the high-profile beauty role without explanation. The source explains: 'L’Oréal was in negotiations for the deal with Adele and it looked to be happening – but she just changed her mind on it. L’Oréal is gobsmacked that she turned down such a huge amount.'

The brand is said to be considering losing Cheryl after endless hair colour changes and that controversial new tattoo, but it looks like they may be waiting little longer before bagging their dream cover girl as a privacy-loving Adele continues to eschew the celebrity spotlight...

'I don’t want my name anywhere near another brand', the Oscar-winning songstress said back in 2011. 'I don’t want to be tainted or haunted. I think it’s shameful when you sell out.'

We wonder who L’Oréal will go after next?
