The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William have been invited to open the show by Corrie’s Creative Director John Wiston, who told press “We want the Royal baby to come and open the new street. It would be fantastic to get Kate, William and George there with a pair of tiny baby scissors”.
Although a Royal cameo may seem unlikely, Prince Charles has appeared on the show in 2000 to celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary, and Prince William’s grandmother the Queen is known to be a long-standing fan of the soap.
Kate and William haven’t fully returned to public duty while they get used to life as new parents to son Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, but are expected to make their first Royal appearance at the Tusk Trust Awards next month. NL
