Celebrity Living in the UK

When looking for a new home, there’s always a list of considerations which we need to take into account. Such things like the level of schooling, transport links, local amenities and general standard of living have to be thought about. However, one thing that has started to influence our property choices is faces we’ll recognise while out doing our shopping. Yes celebrity living is affecting all of us.

Here’s a few of the favourite areas for celebrities in the UK. Just who will you see?

East Sussex

A variety of areas in East Sussex continue to play home to a number of celebrity residents. Lead singer of The Who, Roger Daltrey is said to reside in Burwarsh, while a musical theme continues down to the coast in Brighton. Those looking for houses for sale in East Sussex can make the trip to the Bohemian seaside location and potentially spot such talent as Noel Gallagher, James Morrison, Marti Pellow and Brighton’s favourite son, Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim.

Cheshire

Just south of Manchester, Cheshire is all about football. Since David Beckham used to strut his stuff on the streets here footballers rule the roost in the celebrity stakes. Alderley Edge is very popular with players from both Manchester clubs, with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Mario Balotelli and Rio Ferdinand calling it home. Other villages in the county such as Hale, Bowdon and Knutsford have their share of Premier League stars too.

Surrey

St. Georges Hill used to be the real celebrity hangout in the 60s. During that time it was seen as the great escape from London for the likes of John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Sir Cliff Richard, Elton John and Tom Jones. These days you’re more likely to run into a Russian oligarch, Bollywood star or city financier. Ideally situated with great connections to London’s biggest airports this makes for the ideal hideout for the jet set.

Again we just can’t escape those footballers. With column inches written everyday on both the front and back pages they continue to rank highly in the celebrity stakes. With Chelsea’s training ground based in Cobham, those living in surrounding areas may well bump into the likes of Ashley Cole, Fernando Torres or Frank Lampard (maybe even with Christine in tow).

Berkshire

Elton John’s home in Windsor used to be the most famous celebrity residence in Berkshire, but that was before the big royal engagement. Following Kate Middleton’s rise to prominence on the arm of Wills, the home of her parents has taken some of the focus away from old Elt. Many of the wooded country lanes play home to discrete millionaires mansions with the likes of Kate Bush also thought to reside here.

Suffolk

Celebs looking for a little peace and tranquillity often try and settle in the tiny picturesque village of Walberswick, tucked out of the way in Suffolk. Favourite Brit Flick director Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Love Actually) is said to base himself here. Others thought to have homes in Suffolk include Twiggy, Delia Smith, Alan Rickman and Bill Nighy.
