Between the less-is-more make-up and shimmering metallic skin spotted backstage at Fashion Week, one colour quickly emerged as the Spring Summer 2014 shade to try.
Cue an ever so subtle sprinkling of light violet hues, championed at PPQ, Holly Fulton, Mario Schwab and Marchesa.
The no-lid eye shadow at Holly Fulton came courtesy of MAC, who gave models a halo of frosty colour from just under the brow. Highlighted with a white pigment, the statement eye was left mascara-free and teamed with false lashes for a feathery finish.
Soft focus lips and MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF15 Foundation were then combined to create a ‘70s sun-kissed complexion.
At PPQ, Maybelline’s Karina Constantine and her team applied purple pigments to the lid and lips in graduated gradients. The key product for eyes was Maybelline EyeStudio Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eye Shadow, while a plum lip was mastered with Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick.
The lilac shade was taken down to lips at Peter Pilotto and made deep violet at Marchesa. Powdery matte textures were contrasted with glossy skin to partner Peter Pilotto prints in London, perfected by a MAC concoction of magnetic, cyan and white lip products, before using Prep and Prime Powder to create the matte finish.
Tip: Apply soft shades of violet to the upper lid line for a wearable way to try the trend now. Use MAC eye shadow in Parfait Amour as seen at Holly Fulton. JB
